Terms — summary

The commercial positions, in plain words, before the contract exists.

Credits, trials, seats, cancellation, and what happens to your content if you leave. These are the terms we intend to be held to; the enforceable wording follows once counsel has drafted it.

Not yet in force. Cairn is pre-launch. What follows is the plain-language summary of the positions we intend to be bound by — written so you can see them now — but the binding document has not been drafted or reviewed by counsel. Nothing on this page is a contract, and the sections marked below need a lawyer before launch.

Trial and cancellation

Fourteen days with Scale-level features, including the AI agent, and no credit card. The trial does not auto-convert into a paid plan — it ends, and you choose.

  • Cancel from the product without an email, a phone call, or a retention flow designed to slow you down.
  • Plan changes are prorated in both directions.
  • Downgrading gates features off; it does not delete data. Your guides and conversation history stay readable.

Credits

A credit is a dollar of metered AI usage, priced per operation: approximately 5.5¢ for a conversation the agent answers end to end, 1¢ for a copilot draft, half a cent for a summary. The balance and the per-operation cost are visible in the product.

  • Top-ups are credited one-for-one. $10, $50 and $200 packs, with no bonus ladder engineered to make you overbuy.
  • Auto-recharge is opt-in and carries a hard cooldown, so a runaway loop in an integration cannot bill you repeatedly.
  • At a zero balance the agent stops answering and conversations route to your team. Nothing degrades silently and nothing is charged without a top-up you chose.
  • Included monthly grants do not roll over. Purchased top-ups do not expire while your subscription is active.

Seats and fair use

A seat is a person who can sign in to the workspace — open the inbox, edit knowledge, or administer settings. The people you talk to are contacts, not seats, and they are counted separately.

Extra seats meter only on Scale, at $10 each. Below that the allowance is the allowance: we will not invoice you for a seat you were not told about.

Your content, and ours needs counsel

Your captures, guides, articles, conversations and contacts are yours. Cairn holds the licence it needs to run the service for you and nothing broader — no marketing use, no case study without your written agreement, no training of a shared model on your content.

On termination you can export everything in six formats before access ends, and we delete it on a defined schedule afterwards. The schedule and the exact wording of the licence grant are drafted with counsel.

Acceptable use

Two restrictions matter more here than the usual list, because of what the product can do.

  • The walkthrough and "do it for me" features run only on domains you have verified you control. Using them to drive a third party’s site is prohibited, and the platform enforces it rather than trusting the terms.
  • Never on payment or password pages, and never into a field marked sensitive — there is no override available, contractual or technical.
  • The usual prohibitions also apply: no unlawful content, no attempting to breach tenant isolation, no reselling access without an agreement.

Availability and support needs counsel

There is no contractual uptime SLA. The figures published on the security page — 99.9% API availability, 99.95% widget boot, p95 message delivery under 500ms — are internal service objectives, and we will not present them as commitments until they are backed by an agreement and a track record.

Support pre-launch is a small team on business days. Free plans get community support. We are not going to imply a 24/7 desk that does not exist.

Liability, indemnities and changes needs counsel

Liability caps, indemnities, warranty disclaimers, governing law and the dispute process all require counsel and are deliberately not summarised here. Guessing at them in plain language would be worse than saying they are outstanding.

When the terms do come into force, material changes will be announced with notice and a version history, not applied silently to a page nobody re-reads.

The intent behind all of this

The About page lists what we refuse to do — no invented bonus tiers on credits, no pricing you need a call to understand, no claim we cannot defend. These terms are meant to be the legal expression of those refusals rather than a document that quietly reverses them.
